A few of the million questions in my head....

It’s July. I’m wondering why it isn’t December yet. It’s been a tough year; I already knew that going into it. However, the past few weeks seem to have been really hard and I’ve been asking many questions:
·         Why haven’t things happened?
·         How much longer must I wait?
·         Why does medication have side effects?
·         Why is something else now wrong with my body?
·         Why is there nothing I can do to fix it?
·         Why are goodbyes so hard?
·         Why do friends have to leave?
·         Why do people change?
·         Why do people say things but don’t follow up on it?
·         Why is work such an effort these days?
·         Why is life such an effort these days?
·         Is this where I want to be?
·         Is this really what I want to do?
·         Why is trusting so hard?
·         Is God really hearing my cries?
·         What is God’s plan for my life?

I know that these are questions that people probably ask in general, depending on what their situation is at a point in their life…but I’ve really struggled trying to ‘answer’ these questions. My mind answers one way, my heart another. Some questions are new…some I’ve pondered before.

I read an article about change and an article about pain. They were both linked very closely together. Change generally causes pain. There is no way to get around pain. In order to change, we need to experience pain. The amount of pain I’ve felt in the past six/seven months has left me in tears many nights because it’s the pain from change I didn’t want. Yet I seem to wait and wait and wait for the change I do want. Will that change cause pain? Probably, but I’d most likely be more ‘prepared’ for it, more than the change that sneaks up on you and you’re not sure how you’re going to handle it.

There is no point to this blog post. This is just a truthful blog of where I am currently, with many questions and little answers.

“The point here is that, in real life, you’ll have to force yourself to move. You’ll have to ask the girl out, sign up for the marathon, quit your job or something. And the only way to change is to, well, experience pain”

“It is grace that teaches me that we are supposed to go through pain and not around it. Every attempt to find a highway around pain is cut off and we are left with this present moment to be here, together, and weep.”

Looking back...

WOW...you know it's bad when it's been more than a year since you last blogged! Does that sum up the way my life has been? Yes...it kindof does. Last year was an interesting year with many moments to remember and some to forget.

I came into this year wishing that I could close my eyes and wake up to see 2016 in, thus skipping some of the pain and stress I knew was coming my way. But we can't. We have no choice but to go through the day and face the overwhelming work load, the hard goodbyes and the emotional roller coaster that comes with life.

A lot happened in the last quarter of last year, it almost seems to be a blur when I look back. Whilst most of it seemed very negative at the time and hard to accept, I would be lying if I said I didn't see, now, how God was preparing the way (slightly) for the year that was about to cause a big grey cloud over my life...or so I thought. Granted, it's only the beginning of March and there are still things to come but I've already seen a pattern with the way things have panned out. :-)

Sometimes, not always, it's good to look back at what has past.

So for now I look back, smile and thank God. I just hope that, as the year continues, I can continue do that.

Age...

Day 31: A vivid memory

Eish...ummmm...

My first dog, Patches, who was allowed in the kitchen after I got home from school. My room is right opposite the kitchen. Patches used to wait on the edge of the kitchen door for me to throw my school socks near my door (a habbit I still have). He'd run accross the passage, grab my socks and head out the kitchen door.

Day 29: Five songs or pieces of music that speak to you or bring back memories. Use Grooveshark or YouTube to include them in the post

Here you go:

How great Thou art - a song to remind me that God is great even when I don't 'feel' it.

Alive - Every day is a new day....

We built this city - reminds me of studying while in high school. My sibllings played it a lot.

Still havent found what I'm looking for - I danced with my eldest brother at his wedding to this song.

Every teardrop is a waterfall - The song at the end of their concert and a feel good song for me (I love this video of theirs too).

Day 25: Something someone told you about yourself that you'll never forget (good or bad)

Just the other day, a complete stranger called me beautiful.

To be honest, before that, I don't remember being called beautiful EVER!

Bugeting

Day 23: Things you've learned that school won't teach you

I've learnt, since working, on how to budget on a *cough* low salary *cough* in order to be able to:
a) Pay your parents board for living at home (since you can't afford to rent or get your own place)
b) Buy stuff you'll want/need,
c) Save for emergencies,
d) Save for travels, and
e) Still have an attempt of a social life.

In school you think you'll land up with a good job and will be able to do things. When you land up with a job that doesnt pay well...you work a way to budget on what you have.

Touche..

Day 22: Rant about something. Get up on your soapbox and tell us how you really feel. (a pet peeve, a current event, a controversial topic, something your husband or roommate or neighbor or boss does that really ticks you off)

Hmmmmm....where to start!?

I'm sick and tired of feeling like I'm being used both on a work level and a personal level.

I'm going to leave it at that...especially since I'm not sure who will read this blog...but I'm sure you could use your imagination!

Yes...another short one...

I'm single... ...and hating it right now!

Day 20: Get real. Share something you're struggling with right now.

I'm single and hating it right now. Every December, when it's my birthday, Christmas and, coming up, New Years Eve, I say: Well, I hope this is the last year I'm single.

Every FREAKING year.

I don't think people notice or do it purposely, but I find most 'events' that take place over December is always couples couples couples...or maybe I just notice it because most of my friends are married or in a relationship. It sucks to be honest especially this time of year (for me at least). There are days and months where I'm cool with being single and sometime thankful I am...but December is one month that I'm not. And God knows that and He knows I'm angry about it. He gets a lot of vent from me every December.

So there...something I'm struggling with!

Blogs...

Day 19: Five of your favorite blogs and what you love about them

Hmmmm....I don't have five...but there are two I do like:
Emma's blog: We've been friends for a few year and it's always nice to see what she's up to in Namibia
Sarah's blog: She posts cute photos of her son!

Yes...it's a little short but MERRY CHRISTMAS! Hope you've had a blessed day!

A story....

Sorry...I forgot my password! *blush* But I'm back...

Day 18: Tell a story from your childhood. Dig deep and try to be descriptive about what you remember and how you felt.

I'm not sure how old I was, but I think 13, when I had the worse bicycle accident of my life.

I was in Port Elizabeth visiting my cousins as I did most summer holidays. My cousin and I decided to ride bike down the hill (they lived in a valley). It's always fun until someone get's hurt.
After some time, we decided to swap bikes...and I didn't know the brakes were opposite. So I went up the hill, got the clear from my cousin that no cars were coming and headed down. This bike went a bit faster than the one I had been on and I realised that I was going to hit a thorn tree, so I pulled the brakes...what I thought were the back breaks. The bike stopped dead. The handlebar digged into my abdomen and I went flying...over the thorn tree...and blacked out. I woke up with the dog licking my face and my cousin making his way down the hill slowly since I hadn't giving him the clear to come flying down.

It was a scary time, especially when I saw the blood coming through my shirt...but something we can laugh about now!

Something difficult...

Day 16: Something difficult about your "lot in life" and how you're working to overcome it

This one is a tough one but I think it's working with people that you've lost respect for. It makes it really hard to come into the office and talk with them. How am I working ot overcome it...I guess only time will tell.
